We enthusiastically welcome to Emmanuel Church our new permanent organist, Ms. Priscilla Walter. Priscilla is well-known to us as she graciously served as interim organist during the summer of 2017 while a search for a new permanent organist was conducted.

Priscilla Walter has lived in Essex since 1978 with her husband, the Rev. Ralph Walter, Jr., who is retired after 40 years of ministry in the Lutheran Church (ELCA). They have two sons, Christopher and Adam.

Priscilla is currently busy as a freelance musician. She has been organist/choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church, Milford, Ct.; First Congregational Church, Essex; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gloucester; Congregational Church of Topsfield; Ascension Memorial Episcopal Church, Ipswich. In recent years she has served four times as interim director of music at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Beverly Farms and interim organist at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, N.H.

She had a private piano studio for 15 years and accompanied in the Essex Voice Studio of Margot Warner for 20 years. She was the accompanist for the Methuen Young Peoples Theater at the Methuen Music Hall for 12 years, the Newburyport Choral Society for 18 years, and is currently the accompanist for the Cape Ann Symphony Chorus.
